Valhalla Knights Indepth Interview
Closed Published by Cara Hannesson 5 years, 7 months ago in News. The staff at GameZone were recently lucky enough to bag an interview with Jimmy Soga, the Assistant Localization Producer at XSeed about the upcoming PSP exclusive RPG Valhalla Knights. In case you’re wondering, as I was, an assistant localization producer assists in crossing the game over to English from it’s native language as well as helping to adjust the storyline to make it more relevant to us once it ships overseas.
The main storyline has you playing the role of the young hero who has lost his/her memory and must go through all sorts of trials and tribulations as he/she tries to get it back. You memory is, of course, linked to the fate of the world itself. We wouldn’t have it any other way!
The interview itself is rather lengthy, so I’ll try to boil it down to the main points:
- You can form a party of up to six members and will be able to switch on-the-fly between them, depending on the circumstances. AI will immediately take over for the character you switched from so they won’t just be standing there staring stupidly at the enemies.
- Full character customization: you will have full control over race, gender and job classes of your party. It won’t be as simple as one mage, one fighter, one archer. That’s how they start out, but each will also have 2 sub-jobs which will increase the variety and usefulness of each member.
- Weapons will include swords, bows, wands, axes, projectile launchers and chainsaws… to name a few. They are not upgradeable but watch for better weapons to be dropped from the tougher enemies. Each character will also be able to carry more than one equippable weapon to switch between, depending on the battle.
- The leveling system is quite unique, where your physical strength and class skill level increase independently of each other. This will allow you to successfully change between different classes without loosing any of your strength.
- Included will be both a 2-player versus and co-op mode. Duel it out in versus mode, where each player can bring in up to six characters. Co-op mode will contain 30 missions that are exclusive to multi-player, usually each mission will consist of having to clear a stage of all the enemies.
