Working 2.50/2.60 downgrader released!

Dark_Alex, Mathieulh and Yoshihiro from the SonyXTeam have released what appears to be the first working 2.50/2.60 PSP downgrader. This version is still beta so it might have some bugs still. Apparently Dark_Alex, the main developer, is asleep at the moment and can’t release the final version. Several reports say that it does in fact work but the process looks quite complicated.
The downgrade requires two PSP’s; the PSP to be downgraded and a 1.50 PSP. The PSP must not have a TA-082 motherboard and must not be a factory 2.50/2.60 meaning that it has to have been upgrade and not factory installed. If you have those two requirements, than your set!
1.50 User Instructions
- Copy the folders downhelper and downhelper% from the folder 1.50 HELPER folder to /PSP/GAME/ on your MemoryStick.
- Obtain the 1.50 update and put it in /PSP/GAME/UPDATE on your MemoryStick.
- Start the downhelper program.
- It will dump your flash and some files from the updater eboot to the MemoryStick.
- After that, the program will exit. You can now delete the updater from /PSP/GAME/UPDATE.
- You’ll have a new folder in the root of your MemoryStick called DOWNDATER. That’s the folder you’ll have to send to the 2.50/2.60 PSP.
2.50/2.60 User Instructions
- Copy the folder DOWNGRADER/2.50/DOWNDATERTEST if you have 2.50 or DOWNGRADER/2.60/DOWNDATERTEST if you have 2.60 to /PSP/GAME/ on your MemoryStick.
- Copy the DOWNDATER folder to the root of your MemoryStick.
- Start GTA and eLoader.
- In the eLoader menu, choose the downdater test. WARNING: the program won’t output any display and any warnings, it will start the downgrader process immediately. You’ll see that your MemoryStick flashing. That means that your psp is being flashed from the MemoryStick.
- You won’t see any type of output in the screen (this is for safety). When the MemoryStick finishes of flashing, WAIT at least a minute, and then restart your psp by holding the power button.
- That’s all. If all went right, you’ll have 1.50. If it went less good, you’ll still have 2.50/2.60. If all went wrong, you’ll have a bricked PSP (except if you have the Undiluted Platinum modchip). Remember that you have accepted that risk.
Note that I rewrote parts of the instructions from PSP Updates because some parts of it didn’t make any sense at all. You should read the original instructions as well if you want to attempt to downgrade using this software. Or better yet, wait for someone who has sucessfully downgraded to write a more detailed guide.

As always, any homebrew that modifies the flash memory of a PSP can potentially brick your PSP. In the case of this downgrader, the risk might be even greater. If you really want to downgrade, I would recomend you wait for the final non-beta release. You have been warned, if your PSP bricks don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Neither did I. Too bad I was quick to upgrade to 2.71. This still gives me a little hope for 2.71 ’cause they said a 2.6 downgrader would never happen.

Trust!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! me!!!!!!!!!! u do not wanna downgrade cause ther is more chance of getting a brick!!!! so just wait for MPH (the creaters of 2.00 - 1.50 downgrader) to create a safer working downgrader.
p.s: There is a site showin a person had bricked ther psp 2.60 with the eloader.I 4got which site though

Sorry for this nooby question but i just don’t get it. Why can’t the downdata files be posted up like the other downloads? I don’t see why you have to get somebody with v1.5FW to provide the files. Help?

there are no way to DOWNGRADE 2.01 firmware at this moment…. so you have to buy any series of GTA …. and use eLoader with GTA savegame exploit… better think is NOT to upgrade your firmware, 2.01 is hard to hack!!! then especially for 2.60 (2.70, 2.80) sony will push and very restrict homebrew games…. (dev|r00t, from indonesia)
