2.50 and 2.60 firmware exploit found!
Published by ZephyrWest 3 years ago in Homebrew, News, PSP.hitchhikr, from hitchhikr SoftWorks, and his coding companion Neural have found an exploit in firmware 2.50 and 2.60. Once implemented, 2.50 and 2.60 users can enjoy homebrew at the same level 1.50 users can. The only downside is that you must own Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories for the exploit to work.
At the moment, the exploit is just a proof of concept that isn’t meant for non-developers. But don’t fret! the legendary Fanjita is working with hitchhikr to incorporate the exploit into eLoader so “normal” homebrew users can use it with ease. Hopefully, there will be something to show in the next day or two.
Note that this is not old news. Before now, some homebrew wouldn’t work with eLoader because it needed kernel mode access—which Sony locked down pretty good. This new exploit takes advantage of an overflow bug present in a security check in firmware 2.50 and 2.60 (this is also why the exploit doesn’t work with 2.00 and 2.01). Once implemented, this exploit grants full access to kernel mode thus allowing all homebrew that works on 1.50 to work on 2.50 and 2.60 (at least in theory).

wait isnt this old news
I think this is old news……..
This is not old news my friends. The reason that some homebrew didn’t work on eLoader is that kernel mode wasn’t available—Sony had that locked down. BUT! This new exploit allows access to kernel mode thus allowing all homebrew that works on 1.50 to work on 2.50 and 2.60.
I regretted for upgrading my psp to 2.70. i hope fanjita will find exploit to the 2.70 firmware
