Three New Puzzle Games for PSP

IGN is reporting that three new puzzle games are on their way to the PSP.

The first comes from Sonic Team and is called Jukugon. Jukugon is a falling blocks puzzle game with a linguistic twist. The falling pieces are imprinted with kanji characters. You have to line up two pieces together, either vertically or horizontally, in order to form a proper kanji combination. The two pieces then disappear. You clear a level of play by making all pieces clear from your board.

The next is from Hudson and is titled Bomberman Portable. Unlike the previous two PSP Bomberman games, this one at last seems to offer traditional play, albeit with a 3/4 overhead view. Hudson is implementing a new Item Stock system, where you store items for future use. This mode can be done away with in the game’s Classic Mode, which features 50 stages of play based off the classic NES Bomberman title. The game also includes wireless play for up to four players, complete with numerous play options.

Finally we have a new version of Bubble Bobble which was already announced for European release under the titled of Bubble Bobble Evolution. The Japanese version however, is called Bubble Bobble Magical Tower Daisakusen puts players in control of either Bubloon or Bobloon. You use bubbles to take out enemies and work through the game’s puzzle-like environments. The game takes place in a tower which is split into three themed sections, each offering a different set of challenges.

That is a lot of puzzling about to hit for the PSP. All three games have Japanese release dates of sometime in July and none of them have an official word on being brought stateside. I doubt that Jukugon will come over due to the necessity of reading Kanji, but it is a good bet we could see Bubble Bobble Evolution and Bomberman Portable
