Valhalla Knights Announced for PSP

The creators of the long running Tenchu series K2, has announced that it will be working on an all new original RPG titled Valhalla Knights reports IGN.

In Valhalla Knights, you play as one of those RPG heroes who wakes up in a strange land and has no idea of his identity. You set off on a journey to recover your memories, knowing only one thing: the blood of a legendary hero flows through you.

The main character has no name. You actually get to create the character at the start of the game, and based on your settings, you can end up with a wide variety of characters, some with better attack strength or magic capabilities. You also have a good amount of customization over the external appearance of your character, and can equip armaments in over 12 areas.

As you progress through the game, your earn experience and rise in level. Once your character levels up past a certain point, you’re given the option of changing jobs. A character’s job determines the kinds of skills he has available to him during battle.

Much of the game involves taking on jobs at the town guild and heading out to dungeons once you’ve equipped yourself with weapons and items. Dungeons have switches and treasure boxes — all the requirements for a good dungeon crawler.

Encounter a group of beasts, and you enter battle immediately, without a switchover to a battle screen. The battle system in Valhalla Knights is group based, with you commanding a group of six warriors against six enemies. We don’t have too many specifics on the battle system at this point, but we have heard that characters will be able to build up an Overdrive gauge for unleashing powerful “Overdrive Action” attacks. The game will include wireless versus play, allowing you to show off your battle skills to other players.

IGN does mention that even though no US release date has been announced, judging by screenshots, “the game seems to have western release written all over it.”. Either way, we will let you know when more information surfaces.
