eToychest reports that People Can Fly and DreamCatcher have announced that Painkiller would be coming to the PS2 and PSP.

The premise in Painkiller is simple. You play Daniel Garner, a man who wakes up in purgatory after dying in a car accident. He is given a choice between becoming Heaven’s warrior, or going to hell. Obviously choosing the become Heaven’s warrior, he must single-handedly battle through every one of Satan’s minions.

And that is about it. The story is not what is the focus of the amazing FPS. It is a throwback to the classic run and gun shooters of the mid 90’s. There is no stealth, there is no slowing down. Your goal is to simply kill anything and everything you see.

I was a huge fan of this game and it’s expansion (Battle out of Hell) on the PC. The bosses are amazingly huge (think Serious Sam) and difficult. I cannot wait to see how this translates to the PSP.
