MemoryStick Boot confusion

I don’t know, maybe I’m the only one confused by this. Just incase any of you were thinking the same thing, I feel that I should mention it here. At work today I was chatting with some co-workers about how cool it will be to download and play PS1 games on the PSP. I would be able to again experience such classics as FF7, Castlevania: SOTN and Parapa the Rapper! Then it hit me… didn’t the original PS1 have 4 shoulder buttons? Of course it did.

So how does Sony figure that we will play PS1 games again, if we are missing some buttons? I don’t know, but this whole things has me confused.

Maybe Sony has a hardware expansion in the works, or maybe there is an addon that will help. Or maybe the PS1 emulator will just allow us to pick the 6 buttons we would like to use, and hope that it will support the majority of games that way.

How do you all think that this lack of buttons will be handled? Personally I would love to see an addon that would allow us to dock the PSP and play with a PS2 pad. I’ve been doing that a lot with my PSP2TV and love the way it feels. What are your thoughts?

the ps1 didn’t have analog sticks when it started just the d-pad and buttons and most games didn’t even use all of them, they could alway just use the d-pad for extra button if needed and have the analog set-up for movement you know they had to already work this out if they are talking about it now. The are not going to be straight port but modded emus of games.

Im HOPING that they will release a psp2tv esk add on, but my guess will be a button mapping app that does it.
