PSP Vault is reporting that Sony announced as CES the introduction of 4GB and 8GB Memory Stick PRO Duos in 2006

No word on price or official release date but I for one am very happy to hear this. Even if these are fairly over-priced (which I am sure they will be), this should push the price of existing memory sticks down.

The only drawback is these are Sony and not Sandisk, and Sony sticks are known for their less than stellar transfer speeds when compared to Sandisk.

that’ll be great if it brings down the cost of the current memory stick, and come out before the summer.

Unfortunately the PSP will only support the 4gb memory card. Well unless Sony comes out with a firmware update adding in the additional support that is ;)

I’m all for bigger and cheaper memory cards. Bring them on!
