Myst Coming to PSP

The latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu reports that the classic adventure game Myst will be making it’s way to PC. The game will be published by Sega of Japan next March with no word on an American release at this time. Given the fact that Myst is one of the best selling franchises of all time in the U.S though, there is little doubt that this will be released over here.

While there are not many known details, it is known that the game’s graphics will be updated to take advantage of the PSP’s 16:9 format. Also known is that there will be some bonus content, possibly in the form of new scenario’s.

I remember playing Myst back in the mid 90′s and having to buy a CD-Rom just to play it (As did many others). The game was incredibly immersive and addicting as well as being harder than I thought possible. I have been a fan of this franchise (save for Uru) and I cannot wait for this one.

How strange, I was thinking about Myst the other day and how it rocked. The only problem is that the only people who will buy it are likely to have played it on the PC already, as it can be picked up for next to nothing in the bargain bins of most good video games stores. Woo for Myst, too bad it will be senseless to have a copy that costs four times as much as a PC copy and with the same story and puzzles that people have played through before.

PS. it took me two months on and off to finish

Along with 7th Guest, Myst is the entire reason I bought a CD-ROM drive for my computer back in the day heh. Hopefully they will make this worthwhile. Perhaps having the graphics that were in Myst V and redoing the puzzles will help. Oh and fix that crappy ending!
