PSP2TV first look

PSP2TVWell, I finally received my PSP2TV device. After seeing the complex-looking install video I wasn’t really looking forward to taking nearly everything out of my PSP to install this device. But my goal here is to buy/use/install things so that you don’t have to… so I went ahead and did it.

The install on a whole took me about 45 minutes. It wasn’t hard really, just quite complicated. There are a pile of steps and parts to either take out or put back in, that one could get quite confused. I’ll say this now; the included install manual is crap. I ended up watching the install video a couple times and that was more help by far. You might want to use both if you decide to go ahead and purchase this device.

After getting this device installed, and had re-assembled my PSP, I found that my PSP would turn on, but my PSP’s LCD panel had no picture. After taking things back apart and re-assembling the PSP for a third time everything was working great, well everything but the right direction on the DPAD. I’m assuming that this was due to either my sloppy placement of the PCB or even a defective PCB to begin with. I’ll have to open it up and tinker again before I can give you guys a full review.

I’ll say this now though… the install is not to be taken lightly. This beast will take a lot of time and effort to get working. And even then, the video quality isn’t anything like I thought it would be. You can look for more info, including videos of the PSP2TV output coming up when I post my full review.
