Warner Home Video to release UMD films
Published by Administrator 2 years, 10 months ago in Media, News, PSP.Warner Home Video has announced it will begin to release movies and other content on the new disc format, Universal Media Disc. It is the sixth of the major Hollywood studios to embrace the UMD format. 20th Century Fox, Universal, Paramount, Buena Vista and Sony have all released titles on the new format. It leaves Dreamworks as the only notable holdout as it will be making some of its animated films available on Nintendo’s Gameboy Video format.
Warner will initially release eight movies on UMD in the US, beginning with The Dukes of Hazzard on 6 December. Other Warner titles released in December will include Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Batman Begins and The Matrix.
New releases will retail for around $30, with older titles priced around $20.

About freaking time.
Naturally, I’ll wait to buy them until they come down in price. But I’d much rather have factory copies over the burns I can make in less than 2 hrs.
Note to movie companies:
Try making better movies. Not every movie is going to appeal to every person, but some of the current vids are so bad that the movie companies are almost forcing people to download the movie first just to make sure they aren’t going to be burned by a bad ..bad video. (I’m sure they noticed this in their dismal box office receipts.)
But for the record, Having had to replace my VHS collection with many of the same videos now in my DVD collection, there is no freaking way I’m going to do it again on blu-ray or the other format.
The psp on the other hand, is far more specific to my needs, so was worth the investment.
