GTA:LCS Requires Firmware 2.0
Published by Dasme 3 years, 2 months ago in News, PSP.Just wanted to post this up, as i’ve recieved a pile of emails from confused reader/listeners. GTA:LCS is the first game to require that firmware 2.0 exists ON your PSP. That is, you would of had to apply the firmware 2.0 upgrade to play the game.
If you were running 1.5 on your PSP, you would of been able to use a version changer application to get around that requirement before, but this will not work with GTA.
So you’ll have some decisions ahead of you if you want to play this game.
1. You will either have to upgrade to 2.0 on your PSP and live with the fact that most homebrew will cease to function. Going this route will allow you to downgrade back to 1.5 if you should so choose.
2. Upgrade to 2.5 and forget that Homebrew even exists. Simple, and irreversible, but with GTA requiring 2.0, i’m sure games in the near future will require 2.5+
3. Pick up a second PSP to run your homebrew. Not an ideal method of course, but this will guarantee that your homebrew will be safe, atleast until your PSP dies due to old age.
Anyways.. as I said there was a lot of confusion. So there it is in black and white. Which ever method you choose is up to you, just make sure to think about what you are doing before you do it. Remember.. the newtwork update option on your PSP will download the 2.5 upgrade, making homebrew and downgrading impossible.
Oh, and believe me.. GTA:LCS is worth the hassle. This is one awesome game!

meh im sick of Home brew ne way
I hear ya Foxx. This one finally forced my hand. It’s much better being able to play GTA and have a web browser than play mediocre homebrew..
What I WILL miss are the ISO’s…
This is bad for rockstar iam sure many people want to
run homebrew and play Gta o dear….
i don’t think this will effect rockstar in any. gta will sell. people will upgrade. smart move by sony.
A surprising number of the homebrew apps run on 2.0 now using a special EBOOT loader. Make sure to upgrade only to 2.0 and no higher.
