One of the major gripes that I’ve had with the PSP, strangely enough has nothing to do with the system itself. My major gripe is with the jumbo size of the PSP UMD cases. They are so big and bulky that taking more then 1 or 2 along with you is cumbersome and a huge waste of space. It’s because of that that I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect UMD holder.

There are many on the market right now, nearly as many as there are PSP cases, so choosing one is always a chore. There was one that I had my eyes on since the beginning though, the great looking Brando Airform UMD pouch. This zippered UMD holder will hold not only 5 of your favorite movies or games, but also has the room for 2 memory sticks. The pouch is well padded and even includes a wrist strap if you would choose to use it. The main selling point for me on this case was the fact that it was padded. I tend to throw my PSP and UMDs in my backpack for the trek to work, so a little added protection is always a good thing. I would hate to get to work just to find that one of the UMD cases opened up or was crushed. While it’s doubtful that I would have that problem since I always watch what I’m doing with my PSP and accessories, you can never be too careful.

Some may see the little bit of added bulk this case has due to it’s padding as a bad thing though. It is about the height of 7 UMDs stacked on top of one another. I don’t have a problem with this personally, but if you are looking for the smallest one available, you may want to keep this in mind before you make your decision.

Having used a number of the available UMD holders that are on the market, I just keep coming back to my Brando one. There is just something about it’s compact size and extra padding that make it my favorite. Being that they only cost $8US is also a bonus.
